Wat is een Telecom Autoriteit?

Telecom wordt typisch gezien als een kritische dienst voor het publieke welzijn. Aangezien telecom diensten over het algemeen niet meer door overheden aangeboden worden, zien zij een regulerende rol noodzakelijk voor het publiek belang. Voor dit doel wordt een (meestal onafhankelijke) telecom autoriteit opgericht.

Wie is de Telecom Autoriteit?

Er zijn vele telecom autoriteiten en regelgevers, welke voor u toepasselijk is wordt bepaald door de locatie van het telefoonnummer. Zo is het de Nederlandse autoriteit ACM die de regels rond het gebruik van een Nederlands 0900 nummer handhaaft – ongeacht waar de beller of de gebelde zich bevindt.
